    Foundation Hall at DCC is a 27,000 square foot professional health education facility for nursing and dental training. The $6.8 million dollar project was built in 16 months with a completion date of August 2009. It stands at the corner of the Community College as the flagship building for the Campus.

    Foundation Hall provides classrooms and a lab practical room for students seeking careers in nursing, dental hygiene, phlebotomy and medical lab tech. The building is structural steel with masonry/drywall interior walls, tile and terrazzo flooring, precast concrete and masonry exterior, and a TPO roof system. The facility is upfit with the latest medical equipment and state-of-the art training laboratories.

    Description:
    Halifax Medical Office Building in South Boston, Virginia is a 11,000 square foot professional health services general practice building. The $2 million dollar project was built in 7 months with a completion date of December 2012. It connects to an identical MOB that was partially remodeled at the completion of the new MOB. The building is wood/structural steel framed with drywall interior walls, tile, sheet vinyl, and carpet flooring, precast concrete and masonry exterior, and a shingle roof system. The facility is a standard medical office facility built quickly and efficiently for the Halifax Regional Hospital System; the project was managed by Jon Tibbs and built by Todd Bennett.

    Description:
    ICF International is a 90,000 square foot building consisting of office space and call center operations. The building is structural steel, precast concrete wall, TPO roof, and glass structure. The interior has a 12,000 square foot training mezzanine with floor to ceiling glass and terrazzo floors to provide staff a scenic overlook of both the buildings surroundings and the work floor. The building was completed in 5 months from first concrete pour to setting the furniture.

    ICF was an economic development project located in the Patriot Center. The building is a modernized, 90,000 square foot operations center for government contractors. The building is a picture of modern workspace with voluminous employee facilities, vivid colors, extensive glass and high-end finishes. It is a textbook example of economic development projects in Southside Virginia.

    Description:
    The Institute is a 90,000 square foot, two story, state of the art, continuing education facility with conference rooms and banquet facilities. The project was completed in a little over a year and had a large change order in regards to the building information technology systems. The building exterior includes oversize brick, slate, glass, and ground face block. The round, two story atrium sets the building apart from any structure in the region. When visitors ask for directions to the Institute, most area residents know exactly which building they are referencing due to the unique construction.

    The Institute is a facility that includes teaching space, administration space, a grand atrium, an auditorium, a conference center and research/laboratory space. The two story wing for teaching and administration has state of the art classrooms, conference rooms, and office space. The heart of the building is the clearstory atrium that is a round, two story, full height glass space. The atrium opens into a 200 seat teaching auditorium and the Great Hall. A large conference center with a seating capacity of 800, the Great Hall can be separated into 6 smaller spaces. It is flanked by access halls and a catering kitchen. The research wing is a two story wing that has been upfit to include automotive labs, plant biology labs, plastics labs, and graduate student space.

The project has a wide array of site and building retaining walls. The site walls double as storm water retention/detention areas and student seating. An integral building retaining wall system was constructed to accommodate the grade change.

    The Averett Student Center is the only new construction project at Averett in the last 15 years. It serves as a dining facility, recreation center, office building, meeting areas, and study rooms. It is an $8 million dollar, 35,000 square foot facility that was completed in 15 months with a completion date of October 2006.
